douglas macgregor is always worth listening to, but this recent interview is the best i've heard. should be listened to carefully and repeatedly.
"there is no such thing as bad advertising"
I predict this will increase SimplyBitcoin viewership. It certainly makes me want to watch more than ever!
there are several interesting aspects to that.
one is that since the Buddha had predicted 3 months earlier that he would die, a case can be made that this amounted to suicide (re suicide, there was a time when speaking of another monk who had taken his life that the Buddha said or implied that the monk acted blamelessly, meaning that the monk had first achieved full enlightenment).
another is that among the Buddha's last instructions to Ven Ānanda was the instruction that if anyone should fault Cunda the blacksmith for feeding the Buddha bad food, they should be told that the Buddha himself said that the meal provided by Cunda was equal in merit to the rice milk given by Sujāta just prior to the Buddha's attainment of enlightenment 40 years earlier.
there are many noteworthy events that occurred in the months leading up to the Buddha's death: the conversation with Māra that completed the conversation begun 40 years earlier, intervening between which was the Buddha's fulfillment of the request made by Brahma that the Buddha teach Dhamma until there was a solid assembly of monks and nuns and male and female lay followers, the conversation with Ven Ānanda at the Capala shrine in Vesali and elsewhere when the Buddha hinted that he had the ability to extend his life for a very long time but Ven Ānanda failed to pick up the hint and "extend" indefinitely the request made by Brahma, the 7 conditions for countries and other secular organizations to remain stable and survive long in the world and the parallel set of 7 conditions for the stable survival of the sangha, the Mirror of the Dhamma (one of several, i think, that can be found in various places in the texts), by which a follower of the Buddha can know for himself or herself that he ir she is a sotapanna (streamwinner or streamenterer), etc. ...

if you dont want to pay big bucks for data recovery, might try putting it in freezer for a couple of hours and see if that fixes it. if yes, get what you can off it before it fails again.
sounds like disk itself is bad but might also try plugging it into different computer running different OS (e.g., Linux if you've only tried to access via Windows).
i have been using sylpheed to view emails as text-only for many years. may not be an option for those if you who have been corralled into using webmail in which everything is custodied by 3rd party and said 3rd party's web interface is oplortunity for said 3rd party to bombard you with advertisements daily.
first step is to make a bit-by-bit clone of drive so nothing further gets overwritten.
the data should still be there if has not been overwriiten.
been a long time since i used apple but i would be surprised if open source or relatively low cost recovery software cant retrieve.
if is smartphone, might involve jailbreaking (rooting) device, and i'm not sure whether you can access drive via data cable etc.
Thanks for the reply!
how do i install? what platform? is there a link i missed?
many thanks!
not sure why preview doesnt seem to work (i've been lurking in nostr for awhile but havent posted much). anyway, reposting this with explanation in case you cant see preview.
is prof john mearsheimer statement urging UK court NOT to extradite julian assange to US (UK court has big decision to make today).
that last step ("reading the symbols like if they were letters") is bogus. you dont have to be able to read japanese to be able to see for yourself what a stretch it is.
coincodex app (android; may be on other platforms as well) lets you change in settings
us gov wants 10k usd for everything these days.
p.s. "different indices" = odd vs even (is selectable when you specify mix-to wallet, iirc)
