NOSTR question: If someone here using primal sends a message to another person who may not be using primal, will that person get the message?

Primal uses legacy DMs, while for example Coracle uses new DM format. So they are not compatible. Coracle sees legacy and new but primal only sees legacy.. .

In your opinion, what is the best platform/client app, if that’s even correct terminology, to run nostr?

for iOS you can try damus or nostur if you haven't done yet. and see if you like any.

for macOS web, coracle, yakihonne are other alternavites. I like coracle because it is showing what is going on in my relays that I run.

This is super interesting. I'm on an android device and have used both amethyst and primal. Does amethyst use the legacy or new DM format? Primal seems pretty active with their development. I'm curious why they wouldn't have updated to the new format. Is there a reason for that, do you know?

Amethyst is one of the pioneers, they do the new DM, but may also support legacy. I am not sure. Primal seems to be focusing on other areas like zaps and content creation tools.

Some people like DMs, some hate :) The flexible nature of nostr allows a lot of types of interactions.
