Why Phoenix told everyone to use the drain wallet feature in the app and then pay 50% of the prevailing mempool rates to do so is just astoundingly ridiculous. We are talking $2-$3 to leave everyone trying to move wallets in limbo. Oh, also they have RBF disabled. Now I have to load in Sparrow, sync to my node, and create a cpfp transaction. Insanity.

I can’t even imagine less experienced users trying to navigate this. Makes people that recommended them look like scammers too. I just do not understand what the thought process was here.

This is why I ultimately moved my local bartender to Strike after WoS and Phoenix failed him. It may be KYC, but he doesn't care. He just wants to stack some sats for pouring me a beer.
As long as they understand the trade offs, I’m good with whatever they want. It’s getting people into stuff when they are clueless and setting them up for a potential loss of sats that I can’t live with. Only even recommended Phoenix to intermediate users.
Maybe Im missing something cuz my LN knowledge is minimal, but is there any reason it cant be sent to another LN wallet and save the insane fees?
Most self custodial ones require an initial on chain deposit to get a channel open. That’s the only proper way to do a Lightning wallet outside of running your own Lightning node.
Oh I meant sending the little I will have left after I spend the bulk to alby or like the fountain app or some shit. One that already exists in other words
I would like to have a large channel that is self custodial. If you’re just sending to a custodial wallet, that’s easy.
Yea I have no intention of setting up another self custody right now. This is my second Im getting fucked on since end of last year and im done wasting money I dont have for now

Wouldn't transferring to a different lightning wallet have sufficed instead of figuring out what the drain wallet feature does?
Yes. But wanted to try out Zeus and that requires an on chain channel to open. Many people probably just want to close out the channel and move to base layer too. Obviously didn’t anticipate this being an issue.
