My partner is sewing a row cover out of burlap and it better be effective and last a long time, because damn a lot of engineering is going into this! It's going to be super dope though.
Discussion
Burlap usually won't last that long in the weather
Any suggestions for cheap row cover material that we can use year after year?
Cheap and year after year don't go together when you're putting something in the wind and rain and sun.
probably a chipper and lots of pruned branches would work better, then sweep it up when you want it cleared
disturbing the ground all the time is fiat gardening anyway
He's talking about a row cover, not ground cover
so, to stop cold?
yeah, i see... i wasn't familiar with this outside of cloche for frost.
if it isn't cold, then there is companion planting for insects and birds and rodents (mainly rodents) and there is windbreaks for wind
probably need to think about more integrated use of the space if either of those are inconvenient, it's summer so i can rule out cold and thus wind and insects are the bane, or what?
Often used for sun too
To stop cabbage moths from eating our brassicas!
