Soon as I can move out of this HOA, which might be never unless we get some god candles.
Often times seeds from store bought plants are not viable and will fail to produce. Seeds can be immature or the vegetable/fruit will be hybridized so the plant wonβt produce anything.
Many seeds can be found at the grocery store. Dry beans and quinoa are cheap compared to buying seed packets. This is great for making cover crop mixes or adding genetics to a landrace.
I prefer to save seeds from stuff I grow or get from the farmers market. I don't really want plants that are selected to ship all over the country. Many grocery store vegetables don't taste very good, so I would prefer not grow them.
Yeah, theye seem to spray the ginger with something to stop sprouting. We got turmeric though.
Good call on growing turmeric! I had success with sprouting (unintentionally) and planting store bought ginger last year but also picked up some stock (shell ginger) from a local grower this year. You can steep the leaves to make ginger tea with a milder ginger flavor.
We're going to get some of the fancy organic ginger from another store and try again.
I've had a hard time with ginger
I like the idea of gardening, but my wife nostr:npub1e2rd2k45ym2jmctnysfadxumrvrr57vqj69ck6trt2y62c40r0kqs9lx8t is the real gardener.
Gardening nutcase since 2012. Still learning!
Followed. Delighted to get hooked up with fellow gardeners here on nostr!

Followed the friendly fern fanatic. π
To any bystanders who might find this note, if you have not seen how fern leaves grow, you are missing out!
I will be planting my garden once the snow melts.
I wouldn't describe myself as a gardener. I think "gardening-obsessed plant psycho" would be a more fitting description.
I accept yoir terms. Followed!
In between the rain today Iβve planted tomatoes, cukes, eggplant, patty pans, watermelon, cantaloupe and some more onions.
My partner is sewing a row cover out of burlap and it better be effective and last a long time, because damn a lot of engineering is going into this! It's going to be super dope though.
