Tether is not dumb enough to do that and become a target of government agencies that they work with.

Probably not, but then they would also be counting on this Taproot Assets projects being a flop. Or on most people using software clients with atrocious privacy.

Liquid Tether has probably better privacy. And all tether is all kind of custodial since they are able to freeze it in case some goverment ask to do so
