Does anyone here intentionally try to consume media that is the opposite of their worldview? I find myself purposefully seeking leftist podcasts and (non mainstream) media to try and break out of the echo chamber. #asknostr

Yes, I read the South China Morning Post every morning.

Is that a Chinese newspaper? I don’t mean to consume literal propaganda 😂 I wanna know what American leftists are saying so I can wrestle with their ideas. I’m also more of a podcast guy.

Yup, Hong Kong Post.

American left vs. right debate mostly looks like this. I try to look for a broader worldview. Foreign state-run newspapers are interesting to read because they can’t control 100% and sometimes interesting things slip through in the mundane articles.

Interesting take. Thanks.

Most people here are retards that mute me because they need a safe space echo chamber to uphold their delusions

Yes. Regardless of your worldview, you should actively break down the echo chamber and wrestle with the “other side.” It will strengthen you.

Nobody knows why they believe what they do. Listening to monologues is useless when it comes to trying to understand them. Dialogues are the only way. Form a hypothesis, prompt them, and then measure their responses.

A little bit, it’s better for making financial decisions

No, you should not listen to the leftists, nor to the conservatives. Ditch them all. Fuck them all. Be free of political fuckery.

Okay. So how do you stay up to date on current events? And also, you realize that whether you choose to engage or not, you live in a political jurisdiction which impacts you whether you like it or not?

You don't need to stay up to date, in my opinion.

I mean there’s a lot of things you don’t need to do. Needs got nothing to do with it.
