We're thrilled to announce that Mutiny Wallet beta is now available to everyone. Getting started with Lightning has never been easier.

https://blog.mutinywallet.com/mutiny-wallet-open-beta/

What is Mutiny? It's the first self-custodial lightning wallet that runs on the web, putting the control of your funds in your hands.

Mutiny is about breaking barriers. We're solving the onboarding problem for Bitcoin, regardless of who you are, where you live, or what device you're using. There's no need to provide identity to a regulated institution, making Bitcoin accessible to 5 billion global browser users

But our mission doesn't stop there. We aim to make the experience as user-friendly as possible and provide unique features not seen before. Our position allows us to experiment with new concepts and we can't wait to share some of these with you.

At the heart of our application are the building blocks built off Block's Lightning Development Kit (LDK) project. A new Lightning library that's fine-tuned for customization, LDK even allows us to compile it for the web - a task that was impossible until now.

We understand that managing liquidity is a challenge. That's why we've partnered with Voltage to be the main Liquidity Service Provider. With Flow 2.0, which we helped develop, new Mutiny users to receive their first Lightning payment within seconds of opening the app.

We've decided to separate the balance between your funds in Lightning channels and funds for on-chain spending. While it introduces a little more complexity, our trade-off ensures users are always in control.

Just like many Bitcoin wallets, your seed words secure all your funds on Mutiny. We've taken it a step further by adding encrypted & remote storage for restoring your latest Lightning-related data.

We've also integrated Nostr Wallet Connect, a social tipping feature. It allows you to request payments from your wallet, tip users, and more. Future iterations will enable automatic payments under a certain amount specified by you.

We're also introducing Mutiny+, our first subscription feature built on top of NWC. You'll get a payment request from Mutiny to renew your subscription each month. The control is in your hands, money will only leave your wallet once you accept the payment request.

While we're launching the beta for everyone, we're aware of a few bugs. We're working hard to iron them out, but please bear with us. For now, treat Mutiny as a "spending" wallet, like cash in your pocket.

Our goal is to make the wallet experience normie ready over time and make it a reliable tool for all. We encourage you to test the wallet, let us know your thoughts. We're dedicated to fixing bugs quickly and shipping new features.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you test out the wallet, please let us know what you think. Stay tuned as we continue to push the envelope in making Bitcoin more accessible to everyone.

bullish on this project!

Mutiny is a scam (you are too then) my friend lost 175K last night upon getting in and they slow to help . voltage scammers and liquidity issues

We've got zero reports from anyone saying that. Tell your "friend" to submit an issue with the in app support link and provide that here and we will take a look.

Most likely just a stuck payment and it will resolve back

I had something similar happen this morning, but it's just stuck in the channel as an unsettled balance. It will clear

Excellent news, looking forward to trying it out!

Why would a happy Phoenix user switch to Mutiny?

If Phoenix gets pulled from app stores and big tech decides to stop side loading, good to have an alternative. Also, I believe Mutiny is privacy focused, so will likely be superior to Phoenix in that regard.

This is the bummer part about Nostr. You ask reasonable questions to gain insight and rarely if ever get a meaningful discussion in return. Only a parade of folks yelling about how awesome Nostr is, complaining about the mainstream, and food posting. Its like one big circle jerk for the alpha geeks.

Things will gradually get even better undoubtedly on #Nostr. Please stand with the current chaos. Chairs is the mother of order. A radically new system is emerging. One cannot not notice. It's not about growing things over night. #Grownostr

Please don't misunderstand me. A lot of people like me is just beginning to learn absolutely new traits here.

Thank you

Congrats Mutiny team!

Another great project! Thank you!

β€œWe're also introducing Mutiny+, our first subscription feature built on top of NWC”

That’s the way! πŸ‘

Freedom of payments is getting closer. KYC => YCK (your clinet key) is all you need.

Amazing works πŸ₯³

With what nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg is doing I'm curious what everyone thinks about this:A decentralized β€œApp Store” for websites

Problem statement:

With the rise of web based services like nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg.

A commonly voiced concern is what guarantees key security, what happens if they change their code?

Proposed Solution:

A link forwarding service that notifies users if the code to a site has been altered.

User Flow:

-Users bookmark the forwarding link (instead of the regular link)

-Forwarding link takes you to the site as usual

-If the code has changed, then it redirects to a β€œnew build notice”

-Users can see notes from the site owner and comments from #nostr users (safe…)

This may be a big step for web based services which rely on private key management

This looks awesome. Can’t wait to try it out

Testing. Does it do lightning addresses?

Ill give it go! Ⓜ️

PWA first is probably the best approach to take in the Bitcoin space. You never know when the app stores want to shut you down…

How do I use my mutiny wallet within the amethyst app? Am I copying the nostr+,walletconnect and pasting it into LN address?

Right now it's just for sending zaps. In amethyst hold the lightning zap button and the pop up shows up.

Thank you. Worked perfectly.

One last question: Where in settings should I see option to encrypt the current live with password?

To date, I like its fast and simple setup. Works well so far with Nostr.

BECAUSE mutiny on the bounty's what we're all about.

A Lightning wallet in the making! Nice. Can’t wait to use it and see it’s future iterations.
