I like the Coldcard & all the options it allows very much, but it’s cumbersome to use and definitely not for non-tech types imho … main reason why I want to try the Q1 with a full keyboard … I ain’t feeling the non-rechargeable batteries but I understand it from a security / cost perspective …
I like that Seedsigner is stateless & fully airgapped … definitely a big ✅ (also, Keith their lead dev, is a great guy)
I agree on your scale though … CC > SS > Passport > Jade > Bitkey
I think the Bitkey could also serve a purpose as a wallet used for traveling in case you can’t access your node.
I’m really interested in the Q1 concept as well - batteries def being a caveat of it. That was my initial appeal of the SS - stateless and airgapped, but the HW security on the CC has some top notch specs. They both just have different approaches to security vectors, and my dilemma has been trying to figure out what solution is ideal to start with coming from a tech background.
I hadn’t thought of the bitkey as a kind of redundancy backup solution - but that’s a really good idea for emergencies.
I’d say the CC is top notch if you’re willing to learn all that it offers … probably overkill for most people …
I’m trying to figure out who’s the best fit for each one so I can recommend based on the level of expertise … if I give my mom a CC I’m pretty sure she would lock up her funds 😂
I feel like the CC would be overkill for my personal needs currently, but at the same time I know it’s really future-forward thinking security, so the debate is endless in my head lol.
I def get that - I often have tried to figure out the key to that based on previous backgrounds, but the landscape is always changing that I feel like always playing catch up myself lmao. I’m hoping one day I’ll be informed enough to comfortably onboard others.
