I'm also an electrician. The fact that it creates more heat and it has lasted this long is still very Impressive. Also the fact that new bulbs or lamps create less heat and are more efficient, one would think it would give them longer life cycle. I honestly doubt any new bulbs or lamps would last over 100 years. Even LET'S that are supposed to last multiple years don't make it through there expected life span.
