#SchoolChoice is certainly an improvement, but why on earth collect taxes just to distribute it for the purpose of spending on education?
1. Eliminate taxes for education, public or private.
2. Let schools live or die on their own merit.
3. Let households pay for schools directly using the money that would have gone to taxes.
This is not rocket science. Seperate education from government.
This concept is not politically popular. For some reason, being forced to pay is seen as better as paying directly.
This idea that poor people are being educated out of poverty is patently false. The system collects the money and does nothing to affect poor culture or it's ilk.
Yep I tried this argument here in europe where homeschooling is not legal and the people forced to send their kids to school will defend that with their life. And if you explain, they say that it is the responsability of the gov to maintain the standard.
No argument works and I look like a crazy person everytime..

Also depends where you live, but for example in Czechia it is legal. Not welcomed by state and you need to comply with bureaucracy (which should not be surprise for German π ) but it may be a way in the future to formally study in Czech school to have paper for German state and in reality homeschool. Just an idea :)

Yeah I'll probably homeschool my children somehow. Public school is for cranking out little conforming communists.
