Yep I tried this argument here in europe where homeschooling is not legal and the people forced to send their kids to school will defend that with their life. And if you explain, they say that it is the responsability of the gov to maintain the standard.

No argument works and I look like a crazy person everytime..

Also depends where you live, but for example in Czechia it is legal. Not welcomed by state and you need to comply with bureaucracy (which should not be surprise for German πŸ˜…) but it may be a way in the future to formally study in Czech school to have paper for German state and in reality homeschool. Just an idea :)
