Like the church from medieval times to now, it will slowly lose it power over time but may take a few hundred years.

Very nice! I think the book has a lot of good answers to that question. I do think country states will cease to exists, and they will likely be replaced by localities or some form of digital “tribe” groups.

They'll be replaced with constructs we are unlikely to imagine before they emerge.
