Hey #linux peeps. If I wanted to make a dead simple media center machine that just had a bunch of local movies on it or could play from a USB drive, what would you recommend?

#jellyfin ? Or is that overkill?

Check out minidlna. If it is just a folder with movies that will do the job just fine. If you have a “smart” tv it will see it on the network.
