Why privacy matters?

1. Autonomy: Privacy allows individuals to have control over their personal information, enabling them to make independent choices and decisions without fear of judgment or interference.

2. Personal safety: Privacy protects individuals from harm or danger, such as stalking, harassment, or identity theft.

3. Freedom of expression: Privacy encourages free expression and open communication, without fear of retaliation or persecution.

4. Trust: Privacy is essential for building trust between individuals and institutions, as it establishes a sense of respect and responsibility for personal information.

5. Equality: Privacy helps ensure that everyone is treated equally, regardless of race, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics, by preventing discrimination and bias.

Democracy: Privacy is critical to maintaining democracy by enabling citizens to communicate freely with one another and their representatives without fear of reprisal or government surveillance.

Innovation: Privacy promotes innovation by providing a safe environment for individuals and companies to experiment and develop new ideas and technologies without fear of theft or abuse.
