I left the church for 20 years. Brought my family into one this year. We have missed only 2 of the past 17 Sundays and I can tell you, we have all been profoundly and undeniably blessed. God gets us through the hard times, by leading strong men to create good times and I'm glad many are turning to follow Him. Stay blessed. #Churchstr #Godstr

I left the church in college then experienced a spiritual awakening 15 years later. Unfortunately, due to having been raised with only one religion, I lacked the context necessary to understand what I had experienced.

I was orange pilling some libertarians online a few years ago. One was Native American. She wound up connecting me with a 90+ year old Medicine Man who gave me my name. For the last 32 months, I've been studying basically every single religious tradition, esoteric tradition, philosophers, etc. I cannot encourage people who love God strongly enough to do the same.

Studying multiple religions is a great way to find common ground with our neighbors. Many are unfortunately wired for "heresy hunter" mode instead of "look for consistency" mode.

There are good spiritual teachers out there. They are few and far between though. Sometimes I feel like the spiritual teachers who are no longer alive whose words I can read are more valuable to me than many living clergy whose voices I can hear. Also, I think if my choice was between walking into a music festival versus walking into a legacy religion's building, I would have better odds of finding a good spiritual teacher at the music festival. I think a lot of clergy are blind leading the blind.

Would zap but my zapper is half down at the moment. Great quote. Reminds me of a Rumi quote.πŸ™πŸ«Ά

Great quote!

Almost 30 years ago, I had an interesting conversation with a BahÑ’í. She said, in essence: An oil painting will never see its creator or understand why it was painted. Nevertheless, the painting and the painter exist.

I went to seminary, did my degree work in theology and youth work, became a pastor then left the church. Different strokes πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

How do you know which Church to go to? I feel called but don’t want to walk into a church that gets funding from AIPAC

The Bible says the Antichrist will

β€” Deceive with religion – he will appear spiritual but actually turn people away from Christ (Matthew 24:24; 1 John 2:22).

β€” Be a deceiver – he will mislead people while appearing strong or righteous (1 John 2:18, 2 Thessalonians 2:9).

β€” Exalt himself – he will set himself up as the greatest, boasting and demanding loyalty (2 Thessalonians 2:4).

β€” Speak blasphemously – he will speak arrogantly and against God (Revelation 13:5–6).

β€” Be lawless – he will disregard rules, norms, and higher authority (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

β€” Gain global influence – he will be admired and followed by multitudes (Revelation 13:7–8).

β€” Use deceptive signs – he will use spectacle to keep people convinced (2 Thessalonians 2:9–10; Matthew 24:24).
