Remember 8GB / 16GB / 32 GB flash drives?

Now they are: 128GB / 256GB / 512GB

Just pay

$200 for 2TB

$400 for 4TB

laptop NVME ssd and 5 years later phones will START at 2 TB and up.

So you are completely right, and I can not say anything against what you just said. 100% correct.

But at the same time you don't need to warm up your CPU running Handbrake and deleting master files. When you can just spend $200 now and in 5 years your shit will take 5% of total storage.

Flash drives and SSDs are quite affordable nowadays yeah, but internal storage for devices remains costly.

For instance, the Pixel 8 starts with 128 GB internal storage, if you want the 512 GB model, you'll have to pay almost twice as much. You can't add a microSD card to it, so you're essentially stuck with what you purchase initially. This issue is common in most premium laptops and tablets aswell.

About Handbrake, you should be using the GPU for encoding (if you have an NVIDIA card, choose the codec ending with 'NVEnc'), it will significantly increase the speed.

I'd rather not spend $200 right now, compress the files instead, and get more sats with that money.
