They try to say that Christ realized (in both senses) what Buddhism teaches, that Buddhism is really what Christ modeled and what he taught--"he achieved a higher consciousness that we too can attain; he realized he was really God, and so can we."
It's just another form of gnosticism, which Scripture and the church have soundly rejected from the outset. Genesis 1 does not allow for a gnostic worldview without simply rejecting it.
