The Western Roman empire "only" lasted for about 350 years though, as an actual empire. The Eadtern lasted longer, until the fall of Constantinople, but they also had plenty of trouble aling the way. #history

I didn't feel like looking up any dates, but I was going to point out that the Roman Republic collapsed faster than the empire did. Who knows how long the American empire might last after the republic is gone?
