Pretty sure I've got you beat...

I know a few stand up comedians who use these to record their sets to listen back to later.

I have used both, each good for different reasons/applications. The ROAD is probably superior for your use case because you can clip one to each of you.

Cool taser bro

Though I don't conduct interviews: I've used a Zoom H6 to record musical sketches, found sounds, and field recordings for samples for years. Love it! Simple, durable, and sounds great.

Minor gripe: no USB-C.

This is simply anecdotal evidence from watching a lot of videos, but that Tascam is hyper sensitive and catches a LOT of pops. ASMR folks use them because of this so you could do a search and see how they perform -- not sure you want to mess with post production fixing that.

As for the Rodes, those seem to be the go-to for TikTok/Reels/Shorts folks. I'm into the fragrance community and almost all of those dudes use that exact model.

Appreciate this insight! Although I have been told my podcast is basically Bitcoin ASMR 😂

I was looking into a similar thing. For the pod you essentially need two close mics, ruling out the field recorder setup. Rode wireless pro would be my choice, but with my search i also came across the Tascam FR-AV2 which lets you use your own mics and can also sync timecode.

Both of those would be good. Zoom’s been putting out super reliable products forever now. They’re worth a look.

I use a Zoom F8 for almost everything.

Are you taking the video rig with you?

Highly highly recommend something with 32-bit float like the zoom h6essential

It’s magical never having to worry about clipping or excessive noise floor, almost like a cheat code

Source: I own the old h6 and also an f6 (which has 32-bit float)

The rode wireless pro is popular but you might also look at the DJI mic 2. But you only want to use that for on-the-go video stuff, walking around etc. They’ll never sound as good as proper full sized mics for a podcast.

@walker I’m about to get one of these as a failsafe.
