Well he admitted to being at the kennels the night of the murders (which he had lied about up until this point, but his voice had been caught by an unsent Snapchat video) and said it was his voice on the video. Which puts him on the site within minutes of the likely time of death.

Think he pretty much had to admit it after all the people who said it was 100% him talking on the video

Wouldn’t showing himself as a liar hurt his credibility with the jury?

Yes and no- it was basically confirmed to be him so he was a liar either way, but can now claim he’s telling the truth. I’m sure on cross they will say something like ‘how do we know you are not lying again now’, but it’s really not about him lying or not, the prosecution has to convince the jury on evidence.
