My only idea is that you'll likely fry the thing, which is why I don't do it. I think the best option is to have a manufacturer do it on their dime before you buy it. System76 is the only one I know of doing newer systems. Ideally, the market would just go that direction automatically. In reality, you'll probably just have to settle for lesser hardware if you value that highly. S76 isn't all THAT bad, but they not at ThinkPad quality. At least not the last one I bought.

Im curious as to what code in Skulls and Libreboot is motherboard specific or laptop specific, and what it would take to write support for a specific model.
Is it locating the IME and BIOS chips on the specific motherboard, or is it a script in the implementations that is motherboard specific?
Also, i'd appreciate if someone can help me understand if we can run me_cleaner on any device through external flashing but not all devices are supported in the coreboot process.
Does it make sense to run me_cleaner without switching to open source BIOS?
