This is not wrong. Elon is doing a fine job of destroying twitter without anyone else’s help and we need to be there to nudge people in the right direction as they’re finally done with it. Likewise, nostr still has a ways to go before it’s anything but hostile to those types of folks.
That said, I’m still sticking to #MarchOffTwitter and will resume my regular shitposting on the sickly bird app next month.
People complaining about the state of Twitter are a vocal minority that finds itself in an echo chamber. We gotta be realistic about this: politicians, celebrities, large corporations, and regular folks use Twitter on a daily basis like nothing happened and will continue to do so until the ship sinks.
Pun intended, but for them the sunk cost fallacy is strong. Why risk losing what they have by embracing a new platform?
Which is why I’m targeting some normies.
My engagement on twitter dropped almost to zero a few weeks ago. I gave up.
Mine dropped too, but I noticed that the algorithms keep posts alive for longer – sometimes I get a like or comment from a follower the next day.
Here on Nostr the average lifespan of a post is 15-20 minutes. Your posts get buried if your followers aren’t online when you broadcast them.
Both models have pros and cons. Which is why I post on both 😅
