I'm pretty sure social media is not a requirement.

None of them held my interest... except g+

That didn't last long and I don't think I'm somehow disadvantaged from not participating much in social media.

Everything else is spot on. The old times were good, and that's not just nostolgia.

Ahh G+ I remember that, I did not use it much but i distinctly remember my avatar pic being some sort of wing , black on white. I wanted to be 'Hacker' back then. Good times.

I took advantage of circles to follow and contribute to tech minded folks.

Kinda felt like Diaspora, but something about it clicked for me.
