Have a look into Dual Booting Linux, maybe go with something simple to start with like linux mint, just for starters. Its better than going down the windows in a VM option. 😉

Thank you, yes I'll have a look at the introductions too. I just searched linux and yours was the first post that came up. :)

Especially if you are new to Linux I wouldn't directly recommend vanilla Debian. Zorin OS, Pop_OS! or Linux Mint Debian Edition (if you want to have a Debian base instead of Ubuntu) are much better to get started. I've had good experience with Zorin OS on a laptop for an acquaintance.

Because you are new to Linux you aren't aware of what decisions Linux Mint have been making, and why I'm recommending the Debian Edition. They made a stance against a piece of technology coming from Ubuntu directly (Snap packages) and even are proactively resisting users trying to install it manually (or so I've heard).

That was a cool coincidence. Will check out Dual Booting.

Hey! I came back to let you know I'm now dual booting Windows and Debian (cinnamon desktop) and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Sometimes is a pain in the ass to find altenative apps but overall I'm liking it a lot 😃
