I think you’re wanting to take the young kids so in that light. Go to Walmart and get a Zebco kids fishing kit. Zebco built a dynasty off of making kid ready fishing gear that you want be made when the accidentally throw the whole thing in the lake. Fish for panfish using bobbers and either a worm or piece of corn on a hook. I watched a guy at the lake yesterday real out a kids rod for his skew of grandkids and they were all having a blast catching tiny bluegill on pieces of corn. You pretty much are a full time guide while the littles and wife are learning to fish so don’t worry too much about gear for yourself yet. Get out and start having fun. Cheat code: Find a grandpa in your church/friend group who likes to fish and has taken their grandkids out.
