This is one of those 80s American Christmas photos going around. I was a kid. I remember. Rampant consumerism, yes, but it was glorious.

The last time I saw a mall decorated like this for Christmas was in Tangier, Morocco, Christmas of '21. They still do it.

The slow, quiet rot of fiat.

The problem is less so fiat in this case and more the import of a hundred million third worlders into the United States.
