We can acknowledge differences between platforms from a non purely ideological point of view.

Some people want more than to post into the void. They want engagement, even down to the tiniest of niches. And maybe that’s just a numbers game and we aren’t there yet. But it’s also a bit of a catch 22.

You need numbers to gain numbers.

I literally screamed into the void for years on Mastodon because most either blocked or defederated me. I don't judge anyone using other platforms.

Just think that judging by the usual metrics doesn't work because the core elements might endure the coming years of public private partnership dystopia.
