GM. Last I saw on Reuters was he was on a C-130 headed for possibly Russia destination unknown.

The plane was shot down over homs, he's probably dead together with this family.
Rebels also claimed they have downed the plane.
Geolocaters also seem to confirm.
A C-130 can take quite a few hits and keep flying, I doubt the rebels MANPADs could do it without multiple lucky hits.
I'd be more inclined to think this is an F-35 at work...
