We’ve been on the road for four months with four kids. We typically park our rig on public land, or in national parks. We took a class c motorhome, 27ft, no slides, and got it converted by ujoints off-road (link below).

After 22 000kms I can say that the conversion is absolutely awesome. The rig is extremely capable off road and on the highway. They will covert pretty much any ford e350, or e450 chassis from 2010 onwards.

Yeah, you can a get a good used class c for pretty cheap and the conversion starts at 30k. Much cheaper than alternatives.

I know a guy who sell parts for them too, very reliable for the most part with good aftermarket support

They’ve been doing it for over 15 years I think. All in, it was way cheaper than building out a van, or another type of expedition vehicle. Their vans are kick ass too!
