And yet my kids schools, both in the US and New Zealand refused to make me, their dad, the primary contact for the kids. And in the later case it wasn’t until I repeatedly showed them that I had sole custody that they accepted that they needed to communicate with me instead of the kids mom who lives on the other side of the planet.

To be clear I also get lots of benefits as a single dad that single moms don’t because I’m considered to being doing something admirable for stepping up where as single moms are expected to do the work and are blamed for somehow being at fault for their being single.
