I still need to catch up on this inscription stuff. There’s a real demand for block space, which is the most interesting aspect in my opinion.

What’s the best way to try out minting something?

Don’t really care to become a collector myself, but might have to try minting one just to test it out.

I think you have to use ord command line wallet

Mint Biden’s State of the Union… That’ll take up lots of block space and be worth… well… There’s an ass for every seat.

I’m curious myself too.

Just watch videos of others doing it. Don't subject yourself to the actions of a shitcoiner.

It's not interesting. Just the death rattle of scammers trying to grasp at last ditch their ponzi jpgs

Definitely be careful viewing the inscriptions. Apparently there’s executable code in some of them.

Please elaborate 👀

I didn’t see anything immediate on google to share a link, but I have seen a few posts regarding a pdf inscription that has executable code. I saw another post saying that they were viewing ordinals and the site asked for permission to use the camera. That was enough for me to avoid going too much deeper into viewing the ordinals.

Inscription 466 is a Doom like game that you could play in your browser. So yes some are code.

If you're trying to write something on Bitcoin, I'd study how to use OP_return from scratch as an exercise. Could probably use testnet for that, it could be useful skill because not everyone knows how to do it

If whatever you're inscribing is too expensive for OP_Return because of size limits then look into these ordinal inscriptions, I can't imagine what mark you'd want to leave that'd need the discount at a particular blockheight 🤷

jpeg pictures seems like a rehash of rehash of a bad idea a decade ago that has never gotten anywhere, i can see how it can be fresh to someone but it's such a boring idea.

If you're just doing it for the hype, I'm sure bagholders would love for you to promote their rare sats for them and you don't need to waste your time to learn how to buy expensive sats😅

Oh wonderful, so he understands that he has limited opportunities to write on Bitcoin 👍

~4MB space every 10 minutes, shoving OP_PUSH for image data and then having to save a signature of is an absolute waste for image storage; it'll be pruned for all sorts of reasons

Given ordinals are still so new, why not save op_push for something more interesting now that jpegs are done to death for the last couple cycles?

Oh right, hype 🥹

the easiest way without way is this: https://gamma.io/ordinals . Web based so no need for downloading the ord software for minting an inscription.

tf am I writing

There are tools for this, for example https://ordimint.com/ by Lightrider. https://twitter.com/ordimint

Gamma has a super easy minting interface: https://gamma.io/ordinals

And Xverse has a browser extension wallet that just released ordinal support: https://www.xverse.app/

Inserting cartoons into bitcoin is like doing graffiti on the wall of a cathedral, it only shows banity and egocentrism..

The easiest I have found is astralbabes.ai

Pay by lightning, and it´s minted for you to the address of your choice.

There’s a very solid discussion on Bitcoin.review from #[2]
