where do you look for information on current or even recent events? I prefer long-form content for most things, but it's good to have some sort of short to medium term information. I'm thinking now of episodes like the UFOs and Ohio situation. random people on Twitter is probably the most frequent answer, but is obviously flawed as a mob, and one which is being propagandized by multiple parties. are there any organizations that are worth looking to for at least a starting point?

I use the Ground News app sometimes and that uses to be coupled with my follows on Twitter posting stuff.

this is an interesting one, thanks

I'm tryna zap this from snort, but getting a "failed to load LNURL service". hmm.

Weird. Does it have an error from my profile too?

I’m ok Damus and I use my fountain.fm lightning address for receiving zaps.

Never tried from snort social. Going to check that out.

yeah, tried both, I think it's my side, I'm using alby, and they are clearly having trouble.

Alby not working?

I think we broke it boys!

ok, alby is now working for me, and I'm looking closer and seeing there's a CORS issue with snort fetching your lnurlp from fountain

Pasting it here too for convenience.

Hope this helps.

got you, thanks again

No, thank you. Always happy to help!

Ohio? 👀 Apparently I am missing news by being on Nostr. I used to get all of my news from Twitter.

Yes train derailment and disaster, not related to flying objects (that I know of) very hush in the news

very big disaster

contamination, toxic gass, fish dead etc

reporters being arrested to release press

immediately was confused when reading bc didnt know ohio had a Palestine name

They will come. Eventually, they all will.

I dropped in to twitter, but it's hard to take anything seriously there, or even to imagine I'm aware of the direction of the spin. looking for independent sites, blogs, organizations, rss feeds, anything that we can make unmediated connections to.

I just figure if it's important enough, I'll hear about it on Nostr. Over time, each user's Nostr feed can become curated to their liking.

that's the default, if we do nothing different, that's what we'll get. which seems like a decent outcome to me.
