I wrote a Rust program to have a 2-way chat with the AI running on my laptop, named Arca:

Me: Let's play a game. Limit your answers to 8 words or less.

Arca says: Sounds like fun! I'm ready, let's go.

Me: What's your opinion about ham radio?

Arca says: Cool hobby for tech-savvy people.

Me: I like it, too! My call sign is W4HO.

Arca says: Nice to meet you, W4HO!

Haven't heard of Arca before. What's cool about that chat AI in particular? Also, is your code in a rep anywhere? Maybe I could play with it.

Ahhh, Arca is just the name I gave my personal AI. Like Jarvis

It’s just Ollama running locally on my Mac.

My Rust code captures my input, sends it to the local Ollama, gets the response, displays it.

The Rust code maintains a history of the convo and things about me so the the LLM has a “memory” of me.

Arca is also a product: https://www.arcaai.com/

Ok, that makes sense. I've written similar, just appending some history and context to a request automatically. I'm starting to look at MCP as a way to do that with more sophistication.

Yeah, exactly!

Same for me on MCP… coming up on sometime my learning journey…

In between Parks on the Air and DIY Solar 😅

Not in a repo… maybe someday on w4ho.com tho!
