Somhe would take the rags, clean and pulp them and make paper with cotton for Poor Richard's Almanac. When you use cotton to make paper, it becomes archival grade because cotton, unlike wood fiber, contains no lignin. Which is why today, original copies of Franklin's Poor Richards Almanac can be looked at. Very cool.
