and then people worked on lightning to make it good enough for now
because without those foundations nostr wouldn't have a chance

I’d argue that it would have a solid chance, but much slower adoption.
Fortunately, we get the best case.

Elon screwing up Twitter, the flux of builders on Nostr who care about community... I think there's alot more here than simply Bitcoin and Lightning.
