Sorry, but how is this surprising?
Bitcoin is transparent,by coinjoining your attempt to gain privacy is glaringly obvious. Your coins now have a new history: you took steps to erase their history.
Base layer Bitcoin is not fungible. This is a manifestation of that, and it was always obvious that the usual control freaks would leverage the choke points to penalize anyone and everyone who attempts to gain privacy in a transparent-by-design system.
The transparency works against you (and me, and all of us) because the power differential between us and the State is astronomical.
See what they did to the banks & legacy banking system? Deputized them, put surveillance into every transaction, guilty until proven innocent "where did you get this money pleb?" dynamics?
Did anyone expect they would not attempt the same with crypto?
It's their wet dream, a permanent record of transparent transactions.
And not enough people get it yet. The transparency... is not our friend.
You can bet the baffoons are gonna try and cripple Lightning at the chokepoints too - even though privacy is not its raison d'être, compared to onchain it's vastly more private.
They don't like that. It means you could escape paying your protection racket fee. It has fuck all to do with money laundering or terrorism, it's all about robbing you to the last satoshi with perfect precision.
And having a permanent record of all activity.
