I've been told that you can use it like Docker to run repos that might not otherwise work on various platforms for various reasons.

Fedimint uses nix for lots. It’s wonderful. I don’t understand it completely.

I am using nix as package + config manager on mac. It works pretty well for that https://github.com/felixzieger/nix-config
