I'm curious if Americans have the same experience flying as Canadians. It's my first time in a while traveling on my own sats, and honestly, the experience is way worse.

First off, when checking in online, they assigned my wife and me seats super far apart. If we wanted to sit together, we’d have to cough up an extra $300. Wut? Why?

Then at the airport, it used to be that workers would tag your bags and take care of that stuff. Now you do it all yourself. That’d be fine, if tickets weren’t getting more expensive every year. The prices keeps climbing, but you’re doing more work for the airline. At this rate, I feel like we’ll be flying the plane ourselves in a couple of years. They let the inclusivity ladies flip the one over in Toronto... how much worse could I be?

I’m half-expecting a microwaved plastic meal on the flight... if they even still give those out. It’s probably considered a $50 gourmet dish now.

The fiat world is wild!

I started travelling with only one bag a while back. A backpack that’s big enough to carry 3-5 days of clothing and fits either under the sit or in the overhead compartment. No lost luggage, no checking in the luggage, no extra fees either. Saves a lot of time and effort tbh.

*under the seat

You know what's funny? They're charging extra for carry ons that go in the overhead compartment now 😂

For now, if it fits under the seats, you're good.

Usually I travel for work, so I gotta check-in my hockey stuff. This time, we're going on vacation so my wife has 2 months worth of clothes and wtv else she brings.

I forgot to mention my wife and I do the one bag travel. Whether it’s for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. That’s the key part. For the overhead I guess it depends on the company/size of the plane etc… I agree the price creep up is pretty predatory

2 months worth of clothes and wtv else is hilarious 🤣🤣🤣

At least, that's how it feels to me. Her bag is massive 😂

The closet is in the travel bag 🤣

Part of the closet in mine too, because there's never enough space in hers... she has to use that empty space for something 🤣

Optimizing all the free space 🤣🤣

No wasting in this household!

You guys paid for two full bags of luggage. And you’re gonna get it!

Aircraft suck and should only be used when necessary. You are one of the millions of sheep using airplanes frivolously, your masters will fuck with you more and more over this as it keeps being a worse and worse idea.

Funny, was just thinking of your takes on flying when I was replying

Thank you for your consideration 🛬

They do suck.

First time I fly for a vacation in years. I travel a couple times a year for work.

Two more work trips planned out this year so far.

Did you hear about that climate scientist who got fired for refusing to take planes on work trips?

No, but that's funny 😂

The best is when it’s a meal they charge for in flight, and they run out before they make it to your seat!

Flying definitely kinda sucks these days, and may not be as safe as it used to be 👀

If I no longer post on here, you guys will know why 💀

No. No, they don't. Well, sorry, actually they do BUT it's half the price. Canadian airlines are ridiculously expensive and STILL lose money! Why would that be? The entire Canadian airline industry, regulations, unions, and taxes. But don't worry! Chrystia Freeland is the new Minister of Transportation so you will soon no longer have access to flying anywhere.

I asked chatgpt to write up all the airline regulations that airline companies need to go through to operate in Canada. It's no wonder we only have two options...

GM. I’ve never had to tag my own bags 😂
