Bluesky looks like a winner to me, at the moment. Adding more and more relays has the downside of introducing more spam content.

yep, content quality on bsky is likely high exactly because of restricted access.
It still gets a lot of posts, however. So in that way it seems to be doing very well. And gatekeeping access _could_ be thought of as a feature, even on an otherwise decentralized platform (which it isn't atm, though).
