I deeply despise alby team

reasons:

today (!) in their email to me they write, literal quote:

"Everything stays the same: Alby Account, Alby Extension, your lightning address."

and then I go to dashboard on their webby app (website) and I see:

"The shared wallet that you use is being deprecated in favor of the Alby Hub wallet. To continue sending and receiving payments setup your wallet by January 3, 2025."

Yikes.

I wish they could keep shared wallets for folks with tiny volume like me.

I mean. They don’t run a charity. Gotta make money somehow! And AlbyHub is free and open source to run on your own node

This stuff cost money. I’ve been using Alby since it was added to podcasting 2.0 and they never let me down. I’m running AlbyHub on my own lightning node and I’ve never been happier.

Sending sats with Podverse backed by my own node is all I’ve ever wanted.

Umbrel can be run on a mini PC or a raspberry pi easy. Or Voltage dot cloud for a good cloud node.

I know it’s not optimal, but if you have $25 a month (believe me CSB I’ve heard your donations to No Agenda) it’s very much worth it to have the sovereignty. In fact, it’s the point of bitcoin.
