I'm considering buying some land out in the Karoo, and then maybe getting some lambs or sheep.

Never been a farmer, but I've got to work the land right?

sounds great . i have similar thoughts but may be abit in the future

Many things to consider, given that this place is remote AF.

Idk, something about owning land becomes more appealing to me

if you really want it , make your plan what exactly you want to do and grows your farm. it will take you time and lots of work but then you will live in peace and eat natural food what you produce.

This. Need to get me a nice thicc wife though cause I ain't making the bread.

ofc with wife will be much better for you but i believe everyone can learn how to make bread

Marrying mine in October 😅

Yup. If there's greenery they'll eat it.

Well there's farmers in the karoo with sheep and lamb so I'm sure it's viable. The cost would outweigh the need. If I was out there though, I'd have easy access to cheap sheep and lamb because others have these co-op butcheries and you know that's gonna be good!

Is lamb meat really thst cheap there? Here they go for $12/lb when buying half and whole lambs. More for cuts

It's around R179 to R199 per kg, and 1lb is 0.45 kg, so for ~2.2 lb you're looking at ~$10,86 for a kg of AAA karoo

but given the inflationary year we've had, it's probably slightly more. Now these prices are in metropolis, so not the rural co-op prices. There you're looking at around $7 per 2.2 lb

Grass fed and finished? Or is that grain fed stuff with meds and shit at the grocery store?
