Well there's farmers in the karoo with sheep and lamb so I'm sure it's viable. The cost would outweigh the need. If I was out there though, I'd have easy access to cheap sheep and lamb because others have these co-op butcheries and you know that's gonna be good!
Is lamb meat really thst cheap there? Here they go for $12/lb when buying half and whole lambs. More for cuts
It's around R179 to R199 per kg, and 1lb is 0.45 kg, so for ~2.2 lb you're looking at ~$10,86 for a kg of AAA karoo
but given the inflationary year we've had, it's probably slightly more. Now these prices are in metropolis, so not the rural co-op prices. There you're looking at around $7 per 2.2 lb
