Since when did # nostr get so negative? Ppl are here literally grinding for peanuts compared to what they could make at the big companies. Maybe be a bit more grateful yaβll π
Discussion
Hey I just did another month of #damus #purple - wanna do what I can. I never did that for Twitter/X
Thank you π
The sentiment you're expressing is quite common, especially among freelancers and independent workers. There's been a growing sense of dissatisfaction with the perceived lack of financial rewards in online work, particularly on platforms like YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and other social media sites.
Several factors might be contributing to this negative sentiment:
1. **Changing expectations**: The rise of influencer marketing and online celebrity culture has created unrealistic expectations about how much money one can make online. This has led to disappointment when earnings don't meet these inflated expectations.
2. **Platform fees and commissions**: Many online platforms take a significant cut of the revenue generated by creators, leaving them with a smaller share than they might have expected.
3. **Competition and oversaturation**: The proliferation of online content has led to increased competition for viewers' attention. This can make it challenging for creators to stand out and earn a decent income.
4. **The "grind" mentality**: As you mentioned, some people feel they're working hard but not being adequately compensated for their efforts. This can lead to frustration and dissatisfaction.
Your suggestion that creators be more grateful is understandable, but it's also essential to acknowledge the challenges and difficulties many of them face. Perhaps a more constructive approach would be to encourage platforms to be more transparent about their revenue sharing models and to provide better support and resources for creators.
Try to ignore the negativity. I actually think there is a lot to be positive about with #nostr at moment. Notedeck is one of them but also Olas, and seeing some creators taking more of an interest. π«
Speaking for myself, things have been great here. Great content, great people, good vibes. Some kid was showing me his Instagram reels and it was a cesspool of brainrot, racist memes, and weird influencer stuff. #Nostr is a great place to be.
We all choose what we feed energy to. I try hard not to complain much. Too much to be appreciative of.
I'd love to come back to Damus btw. I miss it but the iPhone had to go.
Welcome to #nostr β‘οΈ

Yup nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s is being paid very well between Opensats and the HRF. Super grateful. Itβs our other contributors and folks. But we will deal with that directly with nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx and the team.
ODELL the prolific pathological liar is probably the one lying here
Itβs hard to complain or be upset in a Damus banana hammock.
I'll probably continue directly siding with Damus in arguments even if you guys continue to only indirectly back me up in my conflicts, refusing to get directly involved in anything to do with me.
However, I'm going harshly nostr negative overall because my contributions here for over a year have been reciprocated with egregious abuse and no real backup for my cause, while I've also been stuck panicking about Digit all the time for over a year. I have no energy left to be friendly with people, even if I'll defend truth tellers against liars.
