Step one:
Don't.
What you're doing is fine, but, the social side of nostr is a wonky mess and getting worse. Most people will not get it and leave. Unfortunately, first impressions are terrible and getting worse, nit better. Only the adventurous or principled will remain and those are very fee and far between.
IMO until we see topic and classified topic based clients with relay group/cluster, active moderation, and working actually instant messaging there's no point much in marketing the protocol to normies
if you see messages from friends on the silos that sounds like they are fed up with being manipulated, they are ripe to be informed about the advantages and disadvantages of nostr and these are the most likely defectors who will come and not leave because it isn't the thing they expected
only those who already hate the norm are really staying with us here, that's why i came, that's why most of us came
Someone mentioned how much they liked Google Plus back in the day. It had like bubbles of people/topics. So it sounded like it was easy to jump into different groups/topics depending on mood.
yeah... they really killed forums though, sad to say
I just heard of "Zion" yesterday, a Bitcoin powered Facebook. It sounds like Nostr may have taken the use case away
I guess I'll keep it at that level for now then ... and speak personally to the selected few.
yeah, nostr is for small, dunbar sized groups that's why i have been saying for a long time now, and practising this - i keep my follows to around 100 and i am aggressively removing noise and irritating nonsense - there is many kinds of this... nostr is like a whole country, of little villages, it's not like a capital city or metropolis at all
Mh, there's truth to what you're saying. Made my own experience. I thought a friend would be ripe for Nostr, I gave him a few client options, he went for Amethyst, didn't understand a thing, wasn't willing to spend time to get it, and now he's through with the topic for now, Elon's the man ... blabla.
