I like to think I have gained some experience and wisdom in that time, so it was not all wasted.
But it is harder running around after kids in your twenties than your forties, especially in my case! But kids are great motivators.

All is not lost. There is always some insight we gain and can grow from. It just makes one appreciate things that much more when they do happen!
Kids keep you young at heart and physically. If you go to sleep at night exhausted, you know you made the day count!
As "house-husband" it's my job to do a final tidy up at the end of the day, so exhaustion at bedtime is almost guaranteed. 🤙
No doubt!! & ooo a house-husband.. where do I get myself one of those?!
It's funny how things turn out.
It's a long story, but I haven't been able to out-earn child care, so here I am. Money is incredibly tight, but our boy seems to be doing really well.
The most important work a parent can do in my opinion is at home with their children. Children thrive in an environment where there is at least one parent home. You simply cannot put a dollar figure on the value of being present to raise your children and truly make a difference in their lives as well as your own. No kid needs a stressed out parent or one that is absent the majority of the time. I’m sure your boy is absolutely loving having this time with you. They are only kids for such a short time. There’s plenty of time to earn an income but not as much time to enjoy the simply joys as a child’s childhood.
Absolutely.
I passed the 5 year since remission mark just last year, so I'm tentatively optimistic about my future again. Spending time with family, especially a child I wanted for so long, really has been my priority. Children really just require time, not money.
I really think he benefitted greatly from both my wife and I being at home for almost his entire first year, while we tag teamed each other. He got a really great stress free, happy foundation for life.
That is all so wonderful; the remission, having both you and your wife home for the first year of his life and most of all your son!!
I have been patiently waiting to have children of my own so I understand how grateful you are to finally have a son especially one you are able to make memories with like riding bikes together!! ☺️
