It is also because the borders are not so clearly defined.
We all get older even the most younger of us.
So it is just a feeling and some common criterias that make us think we are younger or older.
But inside the body, we are the same with just a little more time existence
We all are child inside a body that get more and more old
That's literally what age is, this is how I see it! Age is just a survival score. It's the changes over time, which are unique for everybody, that people usually refer to as getting older, but that's erroneous.
That younger:older ratio trends to zero over time.
I'm pretty sure that's why your folks were so happy when you had kids.

Yep. I am from Poland and we did not have the best camera when I was a kid. So my child photos look like pictures made in the 1960s.
I showed them my son and he was like "Whoa dad I did not even know that you was a child when the first colour cameras came out."
