I think we’ve barely started to scratch the surface of what’s possible with relays.

Imagine topic-focused or geofenced relays.

I would love to see smaller community run relays or even down to family level relays for group chat.

Relays are surprisingly easy to run, they just have to be online all the time.

To me, the big gap right now towards getting more interesting relays is that clients need to allow users to swap between relays and relay sets really easy. This would give you an easy way to switch job or view of the network in a tap or two.

Yup

Thanks! So.. i am doing everything right with my community relay 😁💚

Yes, we need such a setting! Would change a lot as soon as you’re able to decide on what relay you want to share a note, if you mean that !:)

What is the easiest way to run a relay in an old linux machine? Is perhaps something in appimage?

I am using Nostr-rs-relay! 🌐

Yup. That’s a good one. The easiest way would probably be to install umbrel or lnbits and use their one click relay installs.

This is the future.

I am setting up a family relay for some friends who have children < 12 years old. I want to offer them a healthy way to consume digital communication.

Any suggestions where to start if interested in running a relay?

How technical are you?

Reasonably comfortable with Linux and the CLI, so hopefully that’s enough?
