physicians bartering for services is a very old story.

i've never taken insurance and never will but having said that, as a private practice, out of network physician, INSURANCE IS THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE.

how is that possible, you ask?

PRIOR AUTHORIZATIONS.

you can pay me in fiat, or btc or chickens for my services but if you want your insurance company to pay for your medications guess what i need to do...

This is why, despite many aspects which need improvement, I ditched insurance for my family and switched to CrowdHealth. I’m hopeful they’ll have healthy competition soon.
