29 January 1943 | The RSHA ordered the deportation of all Roma people from Germany and German-occupied territories to Auschwitz. At least 23,000 Sinti & Roma were later deported there. Most were murdered.

Besides their ethnicity... Which nationality did those Roma and Sinti have had? I am really curious about this. I mean before Hitler there where no "Germans". People living here have been Baden, Hessen, Bayern. Which of these states did the Roma and Sinti belong to?

And: If they have been german citizens.. isn't it racist to call them Sinti and Roma when they have been german citizens?
